Young Leaders’ Scheme

Young Leaders’ Scheme

The Young Leaders’ Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. All young leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 (or 13.5 who have moved to Explorers) and 18 must be members of an Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Unit. They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section.

The Young Leaders’ Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfil the service elements of their awards.

Young Leader Support

You can download our Young Leader Quick Guide (updated Jan 18 with POR changes).  For queries about Young Leader training opportunities email Mike Baxter.

The County Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leaders) is Lynn Tatavossian and provides advice and support to leaders and districts around Young Leaders.

Training dates 2018

All Young Leaders must complete module A (prepare for take off) within three months of starting, these are usually run within districts.

The other modules B – K (first aid) are run either over a weekend or local days/sessions.
